Welcome to Trigger Editions. We are a small publisher of limited edition artworks based in Bristol, UK.

We collaborate with artists to produce high quality, affordable art works, prints and book works made to 'trigger' some kind of interaction or exchange between artist, viewer and artwork. We specialise in art works that hold the act of giving and receiving as integral to the piece.

"Gift giving has degenerated to a social function exercised with rational bad grace… the decay of giving is mirrored in the distressing invention of gift-articles… The invention of the gift-article… is the result both of the economic exploition of the enforced gift relation… and of creating an ‘answer’ (for the would-be gift buyer) to the problem of the true gift.’ Hence the gift-article becomes a substitute for the genuine gift. Often, a loss of usefulness and quality follows: ‘the gift-book … is a book that is very nearly not a book.’ Gifts involve ‘wasteful expenditure’ but ‘this expenditure is normal, not substantive: the gift-article is simply the sign of ‘money spent’."
